The Girls take on The Peaks!
On Saturday 29th May 2010 Vicky, Hazel and Claire will be taking on the 3 highest mountains in the UK – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. The challenge is to climb the combined height of 11,178 feet in 24 hours. The challenge is not for the faint of heart; stamina, determinism and fitness are a must (she says tucking into some chocolate and a glass of wine!).
So you may be wondering “why on earth are they doing this?” Well, the answer is for Vicky’s dad - Maurice Matthews (aka the Ancient Mariner). He had planned to sail around the UK to raise money for the Ellen MacArthur Trust. However, in March the Ancient Mariner passed away after a 2-year fight with cancer. So we have decided to help out with the fundraising in his memory.
The Ellen MacArthur Trust takes young people aged between 8-18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illnesses.
So please sponsor us today and help us reach Maurice’s £14,000 target.
